Art Note Cards

Friday, March 19th, 2010

I worked on a series of art note cards today, going back over my files and reworking some images that had been too saturated with color. For my early landscape drawings, I used slide film to record them, and I think it made the color too deep, and the contrast too high. Anyway, these new cards printed from digital photographs seem more pleasing to me, with things a little more subdued. There are a few drawings I might have to unframe and photograph again, if I get a surge of ambition.

Well, I e-mailed a batch of 22 new note card images to the printer yesterday. When I get them back, I’ll see which ones printed the best, and take it from there. I’m looking forward to having them, as I haven’t printed cards for quite a while.

I’ve been going through my photo files and choosing more images to use for a new note card line. It’s nice to have my drawings and photographs available  in this moveable format, so I can arrange and rearrange them for different projects. I’ll probably print up some of the landscapes I’d like to draw next, to see how they fit into this body of work.

Progress on the Note Card Front

Friday, March 5th, 2010

I’ve been creating more note cards to take to the printer. Today I heard from an ex-Bowmanite who now lives in Alaska. She saw my website, and wants to get a bunch of note cards from me to make an album. It sounds like the Great Plains landscape has a new-found appeal to her. That was good to learn!

New Note Cards

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

I have begun work on new note cards today, and it feels good to get back to creating something. The new batch will be mostly landscapes, and they will complement my “Equus” series of cards. I may throw in some of buffalo, sunflowers, and cottonwoods, also, just to have more variety.
