Back to the Studio

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

After some time in the garden yesterday, I finally got back to work on drawings in my studio. I photographed the progress with my new camera, and it seems to do a very good job. There are some questions I have about image size and resolution, but that will become clearer with more study time. I did learn how to delete images on the camera, and that’s always good to know!

Badlands Slope with Trees

I printed out some new images of landscapes with filter effects yesterday, also, and think I might try my hand at drawing them. They might as well join the colorful series of horses and buffalo, right?

Land of Grass

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

Well, I spent a good part of yesterday afternoon out on the patio, soaking up the sun. Today was quite a bit warmer, and I was ready to get back to work on my grassland drawings.

Grasslands

I worked on the right side of my “Grasslands in Green” drawing this morning. It’s been quite a while since any progress was made on it.

Badlands Slope with Trees

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

This is one of the new drawings of the Badlands in September that I’m working on. I love the graceful slope of these hills, and am thinking about doing this composition in different seasons. I taped two photos together to get this panoramic view of southwestern North Dakota, south of the Burning Coal Vein area. It will frame up to 20 x 38 inches.

Grassland Drawing

Friday, May 7th, 2010

I put a second coat of turquoise paint on my accent wall, then got back to work on my drawing of the Little Missouri National Grasslands. We were fortunate to not have too much snow accumulate, and we didn’t lose our electricity. Here’s to milder days!

I got back to my drawing of green grasslands this afternoon, adding some yellow-green and orange to the left side of the hill.

“Land of Grass” in the Land of Snow

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Wow, there are some big, fat, flakes of snow descending upon us today, here in the land of grass. I’ve not been out in it yet, but may see what it’s like later this afternoon when the art club meets at the library. In the meanwhile, I’ve added more trees and grass to my latest drawing.

Out in the Land of Grass

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Well, the weather has me staying inside, but I’ve been out in the land of grass while working on my latest drawing from the comfort of my studio. Early May seems to be coming in like a lion! Hope she settles down soon.

Green Grasslands at the End of the Day

Friday, April 9th, 2010

I moved along with my green grasslands drawing this afternoon. This is the only drawing I have in progress, which is a little unusual. It’s kind of nice to just have one to concentrate on, but we’ll see toward the end if it would be better to have some others to switch back and forth.
