A Little of This, A Little of That

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

I took it fairly easy today, doing a few things around the house and garden, and nothing too strenuous. Things I’ve been putting off, like backing up the blog and getting it updated. And things like pulling out flowers that have seen better days, even though I’ve been hoping for their comeback. After making a couple of Facebook posts and having a good late summer nap, I even got around to making some progress on a drawing. It’s going to be 33 x 28 inches when it’s framed, which is a little different than my usual 38 x 28 inches size.

“Summer in the Badlands” is Nearly Done

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

I worked on the foreground hills of my North Dakota Badlands drawing again this afternoon. It is very, very close to being finished now. I’ll look at it tomorrow with fresh eyes, probably add just a few touches, then frame it up.

Summertime

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Ah, summer in the North Dakota Badlands. I worked on the foreground of my drawing of the Little Missouri National Grasslands this afternoon. Nice to deal with a landscape that isn’t white, white, white everywhere you look.

“Prairie Trail” is Finished

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Well, I believe I’ve reached the end of the trail with my drawing of clouds towering over tracks through the prairie. It was a lot more complex than most of my drawings, but I wanted to see if I could do it. I’m pleased with the composition, and like the way the trail beckons you onward and upward.

Left Bank

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

I worked on the lower left bank and the river in my drawing of the Little Mo this afternoon. Things are moving right along, and every day brings more progress. The sun was out today, and the wind wasn’t howling. It gave me a chance to clear snow away from windows and doors. Life is good.

Summer

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

I made some more progress on my drawing “Summer in the Badlands” today. The frames for my cottonwood prints arrived this morning, so I will be assembling them soon. They are an embossed silver and gold, which will match the frames on my pastel drawings.
